Two cousins. One mission.

We didn't set out to start a snack company. We just wanted to bring something delicious to people - all while caring for our producer partners and the resources we use every step of the way.

“We built Fortunaza Farms from scratch to prove that a small company can bring you the best dried fruit you've ever tasted, sourced from family farms and small producers in the Caribbean, while being fair, responsible and sustainability-focused in every step of our supply chain.”
— Sahar and Nahal, cofounders

Fortunaza Farms was founded in 2025 by four people who share one obsession: the Caribbean. Nahal, Sahar, Andredy, and Ryan each found a home in this part of the world long before Fortunaza existed — from Jarabacoa in the Dominican Republic to the surf towns of Puerto Rico's west coast. For us, this isn't a sourcing decision. It's personal. Andredy's Dominican roots run deep here, and the four of us have spent decades building relationships, community, and a genuine love for a region that deserves far better than what the global food industry has given it.

We started with a simple question: why does dried fruit at the grocery store taste nothing like the real thing? The answer, almost always, is what they add to it. Sugar. Sulfites. Preservatives. Dyes. We decided to do the opposite: source exceptional fruit at peak ripeness, dry it with nothing added, and get it to people fast enough that they can actually taste the difference. The reaction surprised even us. People who told us they hated dried fruit tried a bag and came back for more. People who already loved it told us they'd never go back to the grocery shelf version. We've been growing ever since.

Tropical Delight Bowl

Add 1 frozen banana and 1/3 cup coconut milk to the blender. Blend with your favorite base (two packets frozen acai or pitaya) until thick and smooth — it should be the consistency of soft-serve. Add a splash more coconut milk only if needed to get it moving. Pour the base into a bowl. Top with 4 Fortunaza Farms Sunshine Bites dried pineapple, roughly chopped, 2 tablespoons Fortunaza Farms Coconut Bites or Coconut Bliss flakes, 1/2 fresh banana, sliced, and 1/3 cups granola and a drizzle of peanut butter (optional).

5 min 1 serving No cook

Real fruit is the ingredient.
Nature already perfected it.

Just the fruit! Yes, really. Our dried fruit products contain just one ingredient, the fruit. That's it. No compromise, ever. No added sugar, ever.
Never. All sweetness comes naturally from the fruit itself. We harvest at peak ripeness so the fruit is naturally sweet — no syrup needed, and none added.

We work with small farmers in the Caribbean using traditional farming methods passed down for generations. While they are not certified organic, we are working to highlight the ways they put sustainability and resource conservation at the forefront of everything they do, and always have.

When you dry fruit, you remove the water — and that concentrates everything that's left, including the natural sugars. So yes, a serving of dried mango will show more grams of sugar than a slice of fresh mango, but it's the exact same sugar from the exact same fruit. Nothing is added, no syrup, sweetener or anything else. Think of it this way: a bag of Fortunaza dried mango is just mango — just less water. The sugar you're seeing on the label was already there, growing on the tree. If you're monitoring sugar intake, portion size is your friend. A small handful goes a long way because the flavor is so concentrated. But you'll never have to wonder what kind of sugar you're eating: with Fortunaza Farms, it's always just fruit.
Dried fruit gets a bad reputation mostly because of what the big brands do to it — add sugar, coat it in syrup, preserve it with sulfites, and pick the fruit before it's ripe so it can survive the long supply chain. That's not dried fruit. That's candy with a health halo. Real dried fruit is genuinely one of nature's most convenient foods. The drying process preserves the fiber, vitamins, and minerals that were already in the fruit. You get natural energy, digestive support from the fiber, and the kind of sweetness that doesn't send your blood sugar on a rollercoaster the way refined sugar does. At Fortunaza, our mango, pineapple, and coconut are harvested at peak ripeness in the Caribbean and dried without a single additive. One ingredient. That's the whole list. So when you're snacking on a handful of our dried pineapple, you're eating pineapple: not a processed version of it. The best snacks are the ones where you don't have to talk yourself into feeling okay about eating them. This is one of those.
Most commercial dried fruit contains sulfur dioxide (SO₂) — a preservative that keeps colors bright and extends shelf life. The catch: sulfites are a known allergen, can trigger reactions in sensitive individuals, and are a sign that the fruit needed chemical help to look 'fresh.' Our fruit skips all of that. The color you see is the fruit's natural color at peak ripeness. Nothing else added in our process.
Our producer partners use professional-grade drying equipment to slowly remove moisture from freshly harvested fruit — no artificial heat blasting, no chemical assistance. The result is fruit that retains its natural flavor, texture, and nutrition without needing preservatives to compensate. It's the natural process of drying fruit, just with better equipment.
Each bag contains 5 ounces of dried fruit, with approximately 5 servings per bag. One serving is 28 grams, or 2-3 pieces of the mango and pineapple or a handful of coconut. Because drying concentrates the fruit, a little goes a long way — most customers find a single bag lasts several snacking sessions, making it great value for a one-ingredient product.
We stand behind every bag. If you're not happy with your order for any reason, reach out within 30 days and we'll make it right — no questions asked. We're a family business and your trust matters more to us than any single sale.
Definitely - they love it and their parents do too! With zero added sugar, no preservatives, and a single ingredient, our fruit is a rare snack you can feel good about handing to your kids. It's naturally sweet enough to satisfy a sweet tooth, portable enough for school bags and sports, and clean enough that you never have to squint at the label. Many parents tell us it's the first snack their kids love that they actually love too. Pineapple is usually a big hit with the little ones (as long as they are at the stage that they can safely chew).
